THE WORK WE DO
“Imitating the example of St. Francis, we live and proclaim peace and penance and, by performing works of mercy, we insert ourselves in the movement of charity which animates the Church in respect to all human beings, especially the most weak.” (SFMA Const.)
In education, we are running Pre and Primary schools, Secondary schools, and skills centres. Our hallmark in the education sector has been our work with children with disabilities whom we work to rehabilitate and help them integrate as independent members of society.
In the health sector, we are running three hospitals, a rural health centre, and a dispensary on behalf of the various dioceses where these are and this shows our commitment to being at the service of the church.
”In as much as possible, do not lack in assisting the poor. Try to console some family, and give everything all at once. Do not give a bit to all, but give all to some, such that they remain relieved.”
-Fr. Joseph Anthony Marcheselli OFM Conv. -
The Franciscan Sisters are also involved in social and pastoral activities to promote human dignity such activities include adoptions from afar for the sponsorship of the education of vulnerable children. We also have many nutrition centres to promote the nutritional health of children below the age of five especially.
For many years the sisters have been at the service of leprosy patients and their families and have not neglected to care forthe aged in their family homes and in a home for the aged in Luanshya.
We dedicate ourselves to ensuring that we preserve mother earth through educating young people in a practical way of how to ensure that the earth is sustained for generations to come.
If you would like to get in touch with the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Assisi in St. Francis Province we would be delighted to hear from you.
