Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Assisi in St. Francis Province
“The Institute of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of Assisi is a Franciscan Missionary Religious Congregation of Pontifical right, whose members, living in fraternity in adherence to the same charism, by listening obediently to the Spirit, strive for the perfection of charity through the profession of the evangelical counsels of public vows and live fraternal life in community;
by intimately combining contemplation with apostolic action, they live for the edification of the Church and for the welfare of humanity according to the signs of times.” (SFMA Const. 1)
Wherever we are, we try to make St. Francis of Assisi’s wonderful charism present in today’s world, just like Mother Angela tried to do.
In prayer and action, from our contemplation of the face of the Glorious Crucified Christ in San Damiano to the practice of the works of mercy, we are “restoring” life wherever it is threatened or wounded, bringing hope wherever human violence and oppression has suffocated the dignity of men and women, being instruments of peace, dialog, communion and universal fraternity.

Have you heard His call to become a Sister? Was His voice loud and booming or a still small voice like the one the prophet Elijah heard many years ago?
In the health sector, we are running three hospitals, a rural health centre, and a dispensary on behalf of the various dioceses where these are and this shows our commitment to being at the service of the church.
In education, we are running Pre and Primary schools, Secondary schools, and skills centres. Our hallmark in the education sector has been our work with children with disabilities whom we work to rehabilitate and help them integrate as independent members of society.
